The Bond films have always been set thirty seconds into the future. In 1984, producer and screenwriter Michael G. Wilson cast his gaze to Silicon Valley and California’s fragile, earthquake-prone coast – but not with the intent you might think. A View To A Kill’s screenwriters originally had ideas about harnessing Halley’s Comet to cause unattributable destruction or sabotaging particle research at Berkeley before alighting on the ‘Main Strike’ plotline.
